Three recent skeletal hybrid schemes provide direct guaranteed lower eigenvalue bounds for the Dirichlet eigenvalue problem of the Laplacian. Further aspects of extensive numerical experiments are discussed with special attention to new findings concerning their behaviour in practice. In particular, observations beyond facts directly given by the analysis of these methods are presented.
